Mary is a vice president based in Silicon Valley and joined Bessemer to start the firm’s growth investment practice. She primarily focuses on growth investments in cloud software, with recent investments including LaunchDarkly, Hyperscience, HashiCorp, and BigID. She is a board member or observer for Hyperscience, BigID, Reputation, GetInsured, and Tile, and is also involved with Bessemer portfolio companies Guild Education, Zapier, and nCino.
Mary actively tracks both private and public cloud software and is one of the key architects behind the BVP Nasdaq Emerging Cloud Index (^EMCLOUD), which serves as a benchmark for public cloud companies. She also developed Bessemer’s Cash Conversion Score and is an author of the 10 Laws of Cloud.
Previously, Mary worked in Equity Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley. She holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and graduated cum laude with an A.B. in Politics from Princeton University.
David Cowan is one of the world’s leading investors across cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, consumer and space technology, launching Bessemer’s practices in the Silicon Valley office. Known for taking chances on the unorthodox, David was the first venture investor in tech’s most beloved video game streaming platform, Twitch, which was later acquired by Amazon.
David has co-founded three cybersecurity companies incubated within Bessemer’s offices: VeriSign (IPO), serving as initial Chairman and CFO; Good Technology (fka Visto, acquired by Blackberry) serving as CEO, and Defense.net (acquired by F5).
He is a two-time graduate of Harvard University, earning degrees in computer science and math and an MBA. David was ranked sixth on the Midas List and tied for fourth in the Midas List of Hall of Fame.
Today he serves on several non-profit boards including Center for Inquiry and the Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He is the co-writer of the Silicon Valley mockumentary series “Bubbleproof,” and in his spare time, he sings with an a cappella group.
Darian is a Partner at Gradient Ventures. In early 2005, he joined Facebook as a Software Engineer reporting to Mark Zuckerberg as one of the company’s first outside hires.
Darian studied Philosophy and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and then founded Radius, the leading B2B Customer Data Platform. He served as the company’s CEO for more than seven years, growing the company to more than one hundred employees, raising more than $100MM of venture capital from top tier firms, and serving dozens of Fortune 500 customers.
In 2012, he was recognized as one of Forbes’ top 30 entrepreneurs under 30.
Lars Fløe is a Partner at Nordic Makers and a part of the byFounders collective. Lars Fløe has a background in programming and co-founded the content management system software Sitecore that he exited to EQT for €1 Billion in 2016.
Beyond that, he helps entrepreneurs by serving as a member, in several boards: bookboon.com and nemlig.com, Denmark’s largest online supermarket.
He is also Jury Chairman of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Denmark, and a Board Member of Copenhagen For The Win (#CPHFTW). Lately, he co-founded Nordic Makers. A group of eight top Nordic Angels (e.g. from Sitecore, Unity Technologies, Zendesk), who work actively with the entrepreneurs they invest in.
Niels Martin Brøchner is CEO and founder of Contractbook. He has a Master of Arts in International Management from University of Westminster, London and has founded several companies including the digital products studio woumedia, the preference-based city guide app wouworld and Contractbook.
In 2018, Niels was awarded one of the top 100 most promising business talents in Denmark by Berlingske. He has taught on Stanford CodeX, is a member of Forbes Technology Council and he frequently publishes about legal innovation. He promotes tech-enabled access to justice.
Jarek Owczarek is CPO and founder of Contractbook. He has a bachelor degree in Digital Concept Development from Copenhagen School of Design and Technology, and has founded several companies including the digital products studio woumedia where he worked with global brands like Danske Bank, Telenor, and Maersk, the preference-based city guide app wouworld, and Contractbook.
Jarek is an expert on distributed work culture, cross-functional teams and the future of work. He is an experienced conference speaker and engages actively in the Nordic tech community.
